The SouthCrest Financial Group Family: We got our start in
1951 when Robert Cravey, a young man just home from World War
II, garnered support from 99 friends to start Bank of Upson in
Thomaston, Georgia. Customers enjoyed the friendly, personal
service and fast, local decisions on loans, and so we grew. In
1998, our peers named us Community Bank of the Year. We
launched Meriwether Bank & Trust in 1999, and added another
branch in 2002. In 2004, we opened the first SouthCrest Bank
in Fayetteville. So all three names belong to the same family
of community banks, with the same strong commitment to
friendly, personal service and fast, local decisions on loans.
